Netgear wnda3100 vista problems

I receive an IP address in both the router and laptop, however the connection will show Unidentified Network Local Only yet I won't have local access to network drives and computers either. The router will show that the IP address has been assigned, but no computer name shows up, just Attempted solutions: Disabling IPv6 Booting in safe mode to bypass 3rd party software Manually entering IP info Firmware updated to current On a side-note, I can't connect a separate laptop to N yet either but I haven't done any investigating into that yet.

If anybody has any quick tips or ideas, I'm all ears. Message 1 of Me too. Are you out there Netgear? Message 2 of I've also tried updating the atheros card drivers with no luck. Message 3 of I've been having this same problem. The wireless adapter is an Atheros AR WEP is the highest encryption level I seem to be able to connect with, same as you. Message 4 of Message 5 of I would WPA2 if that works.. Message 6 of Message 7 of Please try the following and see what happens: 1.

Set the mode to 54mbps 2. Select a channel 1,6,9, or 11 , not Auto 4. Select an encryption you would like to use Though the is dual band, I would suggest you play around first with just the G settings to isolate things over.

If you still get the "unidentified network" icon on your Vista, try restarting your computer after successfully connecting. Message 8 of The D-link doesn't have wpa2, only wpa. I have the dlink hardwired to the Netgear to act as a switch. The problem I have, is that I can't figure out why the vista pc can connect to the dlink through wpa, but not the netgear. Yep I've tried all that several times in different configurations, have tried static IP's, have disabled the 5GHz, nothing.

Still can't get past this local network only problem. I can hardly see blaming this on the wireless card either because, again, it connects to the dlink through wpa. I have a working setup right now so I suppose I'll just have to wait for netgear to figure it out. What I have done is assign a static ip of I had to disable all the other stuff because the routers appeared to be fighting over streams when playing music files from my NAS.

Message 9 of Message 10 of FD, I have the exact same problem. I had posted a thread last night. I have never had a router before and getting all kinds of crap with my laptop. My Wireless printer, desktop using netgear wireless wnda , and even my blu-ray connect fine with the WNDR router I am so fed up.

The router is brand new. Hoping I can get some free support. A friend of mine installed Windows 10 on a new drive in his windows 7 system everything worked Ok except for the Net gear WNAm wireless adapter not found. It works OK from the windows 7 build, tried down loading various drivers for windows I removed the PC to my home and connected via Ethernet cable to my router did an update driver software from device manager let it search the web. New driver found and installed now works on window 7 and windows 10 drives retired HP support engineer.

I recently installed Windows 10 and have the problem with the Netgear WNA dropping the connection. I went to the Netgear site and downloaded the software for Windows 10 but am still having the problem. I followed the directions for uninstalling the Netgear software and then reinstalling as directed.

If there is something else that I am missing I would appreciate any help to this problem. I am at the point of replacing the WNA if I can't solve this problem. Once installed manually update driver software. JamesGL thank you for the reply. I solved the problem.

I moved the adapter to a USB 2. I guess I am giving up some speed but for the reliability I am OK with this. When I reviewed the specs for the adapter it didn't say anything about 3. I wonder why Windows 10 doesn't likethe 3. Try to use the standalone driver instead that one with genie. We are investigating this as the highest priority and will provide updates at Status.
