I have installed the msi independently nd the process says that it was successfully installed but the SQL Express Installed still cannot find it.

EXE package, if you're getting an error that it can't be found then there is something wrong with the package file, it may have been partially corrupted during download. The setup engine won't find additional copies scattered around your disk. I must have downloaded a faulty package. There is another copy of a simpler installer bundled with the Visual Basic Express edition and it installed perfectly and without a hitch.

I will revisit the download page and get the proper installer later once I have worked out how to over ride the versions query in the cmd prompt with the appropriate parameter instruction.
